Twenty alder blocks, each with two pastel gems set into one side, and ten luminous blocks in soft colors. Children match the gems by color, line the blocks into a track, and slide the luminous pieces in between to see the light pass through.

On a light table the whole set glows, and the matching game quietly becomes a lesson in color, pattern and symmetry.

Age Recommendations

345678

From age three, matching and sorting; older children design patterns and full light-table scenes.

Why it lasts.

The gentle version of Bauspiel's best-loved color track, in soft pastel shades.

Two kinds of light

Inset gems sparkle from the surface while the luminous blocks glow from inside, so every arrangement has depth.

Built for matching

Pairs of colors invite memory games, sorting and symmetry, then open into free building.

Tidy by design

Everything returns to a solid wooden tray, and an empty slot shows what is still on the floor.

Bauspiel Bauspiel is Uwe Deckelmann and his daughter Hanna. 'Bauspiel' means 'building game' in German, and the line grows out of Friedrich Fröbel's kindergarten tradition of simple forms that ask nothing and allow everything. The wood is native European lime, alder and beech, with maple and cherry from sustainable cultivation, colored and oiled so the grain stays visible and the soul of the wood remains perceptible. The acrylic and gems come from Taiwan or China. Everything is quality-checked and shipped from Augsburg, Germany.
